One of the important outcomes of the project was the formulation of the dimensions and sub-dimensions, which helped to develop the modules and micro-modules. These dimensions and sub-dimensions could serve as a basis for a self-check process in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to evaluate the quality of the PETE programmes provided by the HEIs and also could be a motivation for extending the current PETE programmes.

The dimensions and sub-dimensions for self-evaluation are listed below in table 3. The white colour presents the core knowledge, skills, and competencies, the red colour presents the extended knowledge, skills, and competencies.

  • Step 1

    Open the following document and go through the checklist and consider whether the dimensions mentioned are part of the PE teacher education at your institution and mark either the yes or no column. The dimensions marked no represent gaps in the education programme.

  • Step 2

    Visit the PRIME PETE website with the overview of the teaching modules and identify in the table which modules cover the gaps you have identified.

  • Step Item 3

    Visit the pages at the PRIME PETE website where the corresponding modules and micro-modules are presented and look at the contents. Download the summary pdf document and, if desired, the teaching materials. Adapt the modules to your target group - have fun with them!
